ASSOCIATIONAL RETREAT CENTER (ARC)

On the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake nestled in the cedar, mesquite, and oak are some buildings affectionately known as THE ARC.   The American Heritage Dictionary defines an arc as “a luminous discharge of current that is formed when a strong current jumps a gap in a circuit or between two electrodes.”  That is highly descriptive of the ”happening” between God and man when man slows down and reflects on God and His majesty and His will for man.   We pray that as individuals and groups come to the ARC, they will take God’s word at face value and “Be still and know that I am God Psalms 46:10”  so that they can go away reafrshed and touched as only time with God can accomplish.
Recreational facilities center around the lake and the outdoors.  There is a dock which is used as a swimming dock as well as a boat dock.  The roof of the dock is a large deck and is great for gatherings.  There is a volley ball net and horse shoe stakes.  There are many, many acres for hiking and wild life observation.  And for those of you interested in Texas history, Palo Pinto County was the center of the cattle kingdom and Indian wars for much of the last half of the 19th century.  Just contact Barbara or Cy for a trip back into our past.
The Associational Retreat Center is sponsored by the Palo Pinto County Baptist Association.  During the Summer - from the third weekend in May until Labor Day weekend - the associatation graciously allows its use by PKRM staff members and the groups that come to help with their work.
At the present time there are sleeping accomodations for 51 people.  The Upper Room is a two story unit which provides bathrooms and a laundry room opening to the outside for the convenience of campers.  The Upper Room also provides an additional kitchen and meeting room.
